|Mercy Street Church of Christ
We were pleased to have Kasey McCollum preach the Word to the Mercy Street Church of Christ, Sunday, Sept. 20th. Her sermon was based on Psalm 1.
1. BOOK ONE (PSS 1Ė41)
Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
2But they delight in the law of the LORD,
meditating on bit day and night.
3They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
4But not the wicked!
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
5They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
6For the LORD watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
Kasey contrasted the two ways of life by describing the righteous in positive ways encouraging the church to make the right choice, namely, to lead a righteous life and to walk the right path. She also described those that do not do right and challenging the church to think about ways to stay nurtured to Godís ways found in Jesus Christ like trees planted along the stream. And what a challenge it is to live right. But that is the call. To live in obedience to Godís will.
